Department of Pediatric Cardiac Sciences
Welcome to the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Sciences (PCS) at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, where we are committed to providing exceptional care for infants and children with congenital heart defects. Our multidisciplinary team includes pediatric cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anesthetists, intensivists, perfusionists, technicians, and nurses, all dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our young patients.
At PCS, we boast a state-of-the-art Pediatric Cardiac ICU equipped with 1:1 nursing care, advanced cardiac monitoring, and standby ECMO services, ensuring round-the-clock support for our patients. Our comprehensive range of neonatal and pediatric cardiac surgeries covers a spectrum of procedures, from arterial switches to neonatal BT shunts, allowing us to address a wide variety of cardiac conditions with precision and expertise.
One of our hallmarks is our pioneering approach to pediatric cardiac care, including primary PTFE pulmonary valve placement in Tetralogy of Fallot repair, enabling over 95% of patients to be extubated on the operating table. This innovative technique not only facilitates rapid recovery but also leads to better long-term outcomes for our young patients.
In addition to surgical interventions, our pediatric cardiology services encompass a full range of interventions, including balloon valvuloplasties, angioplasties, and device closures. We also offer diagnostic catheterizations, stent placements, and neonatal interventions, ensuring comprehensive care for children with cardiac conditions.
A unique aspect of our department is our focus on fetal echocardiography, conducted by trained professionals in collaboration with fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics departments. This allows for early detection and management of cardiac anomalies in the womb, setting the stage for proactive care from the earliest stages of development.
As part of the Institute of Child Health, our department is integrated with a full range of pediatric specialties, including a tertiary-level NICU and PICU, ensuring seamless continuity of care for our patients from infancy to adulthood.
